MSM – Tool focusing on Instagram food trucks

design brief – July 2019 | UX,UI |

Problem Space

MSM’s objective was to create innovative ways to help their consumers save by doing little. Summer being the stereotypical season to relax can encourage customers to treat themselves and the increased popularity of street food which is a cheaper alternative to restaurants.

The Solution

Creating an interactive tool that would be beneficial to their customers for the Summer Season. A fresh new tool that differs to their common energy or insurance based tools.

Two final products

  1. A wireframe of how I envisage the UX of this tool.
  2. Depending on the UX, create an illustrative header or start screen

Depending on the UX, create an illustrative header or start screen

MSM has specific design requirements for illustration and two coloured schemes which was heavily considered. The illustrative start screen was chosen for my UX experience. I created two unique flat 2D illustrations that fit the client requirements as well as incorporating my own design style. The Contextual aspect of the start screen was also considered. To attract people to the interactive tool, I applied MSM’s tone of voice strategy for persuasive sentences.

Brief Outline

Creating an interactive tool that would be beneficial to their customers for the Summer Season.

With research and data collection completed, the brief was to create the wireframe design and user experience process for an interactive tool that outlines some of the most popular food trucks on Instagram throughout the UK.

The main tasks were to create wireframes of how I envisage the UX of this tool to be and a screen to introduce the title i.e. an illustrative header or start screen.

Eliminate pain points, meet business goals

The most important factors I wanted to consider was eliminating pain points and meeting the business goals. With that in mind, I created design flows that could work well with the design task objective and create the best customer journey possible to enhance the tool’s usability.

Simplistic and Easy

My approach was to create a simplistic, easy user interface that could help users concentrate and move through the tool smoothly and reach the goal faster. With all this in mind and the research conducted, I was able to create these final wireframe designs.

Start Screen
Location Page

Users selecting the closest city to them manually or through adding their address

End Results

All results will be presented with an image gallery, location, followers on Instagram, an external link to their page and their cuisine.

Additional Information

Users can also filter and sort the search to see other places recorded or to see specific cuisines.

The Process

To Start with, this agency has already worked with the client so I looked into the existing products they’ve worked on together to see their standards and common elements used in their work. Moreover, I researched existing interactive tools to gain inspiration. I also researched existing analytics tools because I considered applying data visualisation methods to the tool so users can understand the data collected easily and with efficiency. I discovered that most products went with a minimalistic straightforward design approach with an easy interface that allows users to cater the information provided to their preference.

Yay, you’ve made it to the end!
